Comic-Con really is raising the stakes this year, with Warner Brothers having just released the first teaser to its next DC adaptation. Already leaked over the weekend, WB has come out strong with the high-quality trailer released just a day after it was covered online.

Directed by David Ayer, Suicide Squad revolves around the DC villains, including the new Joker played by Jared Leto – the first since Heath Ledger. The film follows a gang of the most dangerous villains on the planet as they are recruited by a secret government agency to execute dangerous black ops missions to save the world in exchange for clemency.

The movie features some star talent, including Will Smith as Deadshot, Jared Leto as the Joker, Margot Robbie as Harley Queen and Viola Davis as Amanda Waller alongside Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc.

The trailer gives us a glimpse at the new and still incredibly scary Joker, with the teaser finishing with the Joker’s ominous pronouncement, “I’m not going to kill you. I’m just going to hurt you really, really bad.” We also see Cara Delevingne, Margot Robbie and Viola Davis making an appearance.

Suicide Squad opens August 5, 2016. Until then I hope there are many more exciting trailers to come, because this is going to be a big one…
